From 1 June 2007 as part of the Home Information Pack for houses that are being bought and sold, there will be a compulsory and independently assessed Energy Performance Certificate. These certificates are commissioned by the seller (or their agent) from an accredited list of Energy Assessors, who will visit the property to collect all relevant data, including the date, construction and location of the house and relevant fittings, such as heating systems, insulation and double glazing, before issuing the certificate.
