London, UK (PRWeb UK) September 29, 2010

Statistics from the Office of National Statistics have shown that in the 12-month period prior to June 2010, visits abroad by UK residents decreased overall by 12 per cent from 63.3 to 56.0 million – a drop of 7.3 million. During the same period, research from Enjoy England discovered a large proportion of UK residents chose a staycation for their holiday break, with an uplift of 18 per cent in UK holidays.

Post Office Travel Insurance reminds any travellers planning on taking their holidays in the UK, that travel insurance is still important. For domestic breaks, Post Office Travel Insurance reminds holidaymakers that travel insurance can cover such potential problems as luggage theft or travel cancellations. A Post Office travel insurance policy will provide cover for UK travellers for domestic travel, as long as the UK break includes 2 nights of pre-booked accommodation.

With the research suggesting people maybe shunning holidays abroad to save money Post Office Travel Insurance is also reminding would be holidaymakers wishing to make cut backs, whether at home or abroad, that travel insurance is an important component of any trip. Post Office Travel Insurance suggests that while not having travel insurance may save money in the short term, if anything happens while on holiday, not having travel insurance cover could prove to be a very costly mistake.

Many holidaymakers seeking to cut costs on holidays may also benefit from considering an annual travel insurance policy. It often proves a more cost-effective and convenient way of buying travel insurance for those travelling more than once in a year than buying several single-trip travel insurance policies.
